Amanda Knox Celebrity Reaction Reveals Mixed Feelings

Celebrities from the world of stage and screen have reacted to the recent acquittal of Amanda Knox - the Seattle woman who spent four years in a Perugia prison for the murder of Meredith Kercher, only to launch a successful appeal. An Italian court freed Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito on Monday (3rd October 2011) following a high profile trial.

Among the first to react was former 98 Degrees singer tuned reality star Nick Lachey, who tweeted, "Congratulations to amanda knox and the knox family for the overturning of her guilty verdict in italy. What a relief it must be for them!!" After one fan suggested the victim should not be forgotton, Lachey added, "couldn't agree more. There are no winners in this". Melissa Joan Hart, the actress best known for playing 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch', echoed Lachey's comments, saying, "Such a relief to hear Amanda Knox & Raffaele will finally be free!!" Elsewhere 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' star NINA VARDALOS admitted to crying after hearing of the acquittal, telling fans, "Shouldn't type while crying. Happy to see Amanda Knox, Raffaelle Sollecito freed. RIP Meredith Kercher". Not every celebrity was as thrilled by the verdict - reality star Brody Jenner tweeted, "Wow, Amanda Knox found not guilty? I am shocked", while comedian David Spade simply noted, "Let's get her out of jail and into Maxim as soon as possible".

Meanwhile, network Lifetime have announced their movie 'Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy', starring Hayden Panettiere, will be amended to include several sentences explaining the latest turn in the case, appearing at the start and end of the film.
